There are no conditions on God’s forgiveness
No repentance required
No confession required
No need to be “sorry enough”
No need to change behaviour
We repent because we are already forgiven
Not to activate God’s forgiveness!
Jesus did not die to manipulate God into forgiving the human race
Jesus died as evidence that the human race is already forgiven!!!
To forgive means to forgo
To cancel
God cancels sin, shame and consequence
The cross demonstrates to us that the consequence of death has been overturned by resurrection
The disease of sin has been healed
The one who held us captive (the devil) has lost his stronghold of authority
You are forgiven
The death and resurrection of Jesus are a declaration of God’s absolute forgiveness (or absolution)
There is nothing left for you to do
But open your eyes
